How to sleep well with the help of technology

Wish you could get a good night’s sleep every night? Or even just tonight? We take a look at some devices designed to help you improve the quality of your sleep.

As we all know a good night’s sleep is one of the most important factors for leading a healthy life. In order to achieve this, companies are implementing different technologies in creating the perfect mattresses, and are even creating smart beds and pillows.

A research study conducted in the US has given shocking results. It shows that 70 million Americans suffer from disorders of sleep and wakefulness, 10% of people have experienced chronic insomnia, and 22 million adults have obstructive sleep apnea

Even though these statistics are for the United States only, the same problems are facing a huge number of people all over the world. That’s why more and more people are looking for solutions in technology.

Light is one of the most important factors in maintaining a perfect sleeping pattern. Companies, such as Philips, Lumie, and Lumos, have created the most famous wake-up lights, which increase light intensity before you wake up. This way, these lights help the body to wake up naturally.

Other companies have focused on low-blue nightlight. Blue light suppresses melatonin, the sleep-inducing hormone, and keeps your brain in an alert state. These companies research technologies which can help reduce blue light and improve the onset and quality of sleep.

Screen filters that block blue lights and blue light blocking glasses are just a few of the things which can help to “destroy” blue light. Apple’s Night Shift and Androids Night Light are two pieces of software which help eliminate the blue light coming from mobile phones.

There are also several smart sleep-related products, such as smart beds which improve sleep quality. They use technology to sense your movements and then automatically adjust firmness, comfort, and support. Sleep number and HiCan are considered to be the top smart beds.

A smart pillow improves the quality of sleep because it tracks sleep and makes height adjustments, while also being able to learn to adjust to the best temperature. The top smart pillows are SleepSmart, Moona smart, and ZEEQ.

There are even smart pajamas designed for children that can tell stories.

Aromacare improves sleep quality with aromatherapy. It brings many benefits, such as an increase in total sleep time and less wakeful episodes. Aroma diffusers, such as Oittm and Imist, can improve the sleeping pattern of people under stress and help them fall asleep.

Another popular piece of technology used for sleep problems is the white noise machine. According to a research study by the National Sleep Foundation5% of American adults now report using a white noise machine to help get better sleep. White noise can help to drown out sounds which prevent you from falling asleep or wake you up whilst asleep. Sound Off Sleep noise-masking earbuds can also help in getting the sleep you need.

These are only some of the major technological breakthroughs that can help people with sleep problems. They have given excellent results so far, and with constant innovation, they are only going to become more effective.
