Three tips for improving your social media marketing

Is social media part of your marketing strategy? Read three tips to help you improve the results you are getting from it.

If you run a business, there’s nothing for it but to engage in at least some social media marketing – your customers are generally going to be spending at least some of their time on at least one social media platform, and being there in front of them while they do it makes a lot of sense.

The trick is to make sure that whatever type or level of social media marketing you do, it’s productive and actually brings you customers, sales, and profits. If it doesn’t do all those things, there’s not much point, and it might be you’re doing it the wrong way.

The good news is, there are some handy tips and tricks for improving your social media marketing so you no longer have to worry about whether or not it’s doing its job – it will be. With that in mind, keep reading to find out more.

1) Post consistently

Although you do need to think carefully about your social media strategy if you want it to work well for you, there are some really easy things you can do to make a massive difference in your reach, and one of those things is to post consistently on your various social media accounts.

The more you post, and the more regularly you post, the more people are going to see your content, engage with it, and be interested in what you’re selling.

Posting once in a while when you remember isn’t going to get you an active, interested following, and it’s not going to help people find you, so it’s a good idea to create a content calendar so you can plan your posts in advance, and even schedule them using a tool or app – write everything on one day and automate it to appear throughout the week, and you won’t have to spend too much time thinking about it, plus you’ll never miss an upload.

2) Add your feeds to your website

If you can add your social media feeds to your website, you’ll be able to show any visitors to the site that you’ve got a social media presence and what you’re posting about too.

By adding your feeds from various social media sites like TikTok, Instagram, and X, for example, you can give everyone an overview of the things you’re doing and selling without them even having to leave your site, which is a good thing – you want them to stay for longer because the longer they’re there, the more likely it is they’ll buy something (plus it’s great for the algorithm because it shows people like your site and find it informative).

Once you know what to do, it’s fairly straightforward to add your social media feeds to your site, and there are plenty of websites to give you step-by-step instructions on how to add a social media feed to Wix, for example, to ensure you do it right.

3) Use hashtags properly

You’ll definitely have seen hashtags when you’ve been on social media, but did you know they’re actually a useful tool when it comes to improving your social media marketing? They’ll make your posts a lot more visible, and they’ll give people a good idea of what you do and what you’re posting about.

The first thing to do is to research popular and relevant hashtags in your sector and then use them to create content rather than the other way around. Don’t use too many at once, though, as it looks unprofessional and might even come across as spammy, which is going to be off-putting to any potential customers.
