A really easy way to come up with a business idea

Love to start your own business but don’t have an idea yet? Here’s a really easy way to come up with one.

There are millions of different types of business you can start, but they al have one thing in common: they need an idea!

But how do you come up with an idea if you’re stuck for inspiration? And more importantly, how can you tell if your idea is any good?

The five-step formula for business ideas

Since we launched Talented Ladies Club we’ve interviewed hundreds of entrepreneurs, and asked every single one of them the same question: “What was the inspiration behind your business idea?”

As a result, we’ve developed not just a clear idea of how business ideas are generated, but a five-step formula for coming up with one. Here it is:

Creativity + Observation + Brainstorm + Realism + Customers = Business

Every single successful entrepreneur we’ve interviewed has followed a version of this formula when coming up with their business idea.

The importance of inspiration

There’s another essential element of coming up with an idea that feeds into the creativity step (and indeed, all of them!) of our formula, and that’s inspiration.

Great ideas aren’t formed in a vacuum. They’re inspired by the world around us, and in particular by the brilliance of others. That’s why our real life stories are so important (you can take a look at them here).

The seven pillars of a profitable business

And finally, when you have one or more ideas (you’d be surprised at how many people don’t start a business because they have too many ideas and aren’t sure which to pursue) it’s important you put them properly to the test before bringing them to life.

To do this, we recommend mind mapping each idea against the seven pillars of a profitable business – to ensure that your idea is properly rounded and likely to see the distance.

Our Business Idea Kit will guide you through the process

Your initial idea is the foundation on which your entire business will be built, so it’s not just important but essential you start with the right one.
