Morning routine hacks for busy professionals
When you have a thriving career, it can feel tough to fit everything into 24 hours. The mornings especially can feel rushed and stressful which doesn’t help you feel prepared for the day ahead.
There are some ways you can hack your morning routine to help it move more smoothly. Here are some things you can do to help.
Plan your outfit the night before
Choosing the right outfit for your day can cause some turmoil in the morning. You may want to wear a specific top, only to realise it hasn’t been washed yet!
Take 10 minutes in the evening to lay out your clothes for the morning. This allows you to put some thought into your look which results in a more polished and put-together look and feel more confident.
Streamline your beauty routine
Many professionals swear by doing a lot of their beauty routine the night before. This includes an in-depth skincare routine and even doing some hair styling. Heatless curlers are an easy option for flawless hair in the mornings – just take them out, run your fingers through your curls and you’re ready. You may need to pop on some fiber hold spray as a quick way to add volume and maintain thick hair, but this only takes a minute or so.
When it comes to your skincare routine, look for multipurpose products to speed things along. This could be an SPF and moisturiser all in one or a lip and cheek stain.
Prep a nutritious breakfast in minutes
Skipping breakfast is never a good idea but it is often something people do as they rush out the door. Meal prepping is a popular trend that isn’t going anywhere and can be applied to breakfast as well as dinners.
Overnight oats are a simple and delicious choice which requires minimum prep. You can jazz it up by adding different toppings, or even use Weetabix instead of oats if you prefer. If you prep your overnight oats in a jar, you can even take them on the go should you need to.
Incorporate gentle morning movement
It is well known that exercise in the morning is beneficial to your day, but incorporating it in reality is a different story.
You could ditch the car ride to the train station and opt to walk instead. Use this opportunity to listen to an audiobook or a podcast which can help you feel like you have a bit of time for yourself.
15 minutes of gentle yoga in the morning is also a good way to wake your muscles up and start your day well.
Use tech to stay organised
Sometimes the mornings before work can feel chaotic, especially if you have a million and one things to remember. This is where apps and tech can be a lifesaver.
Having reminders on your phone for things like taking medication, feeding pets or even remembering your work ID can help you remember them at opportune moments.
Smart home devices can also help. Setting a smart kettle to brew you the perfect coffee whilst you get yourself out of bed helps shave off a few minutes of your time, saving you precious moments in the morning.
