Introducing our new columnist, Gillian Harvey

When we first launched Talented Ladies Club nearly seven (!) years ago, we had two regular columnists sharing stories from their lives.

One was a single working mum, the other a mum of three charting the ups and downs of building a freelance career around her family.

Over time both these popular columnists moved on, which has left a gap. While our general content and inspiring interviews have continued to grow over the years, it’s felt – to us at least – that there was more room for real life experience and personal voices.

So we’re delighted to announce that we’ve just hired a new columnist! Twice a month, writer and mum-of-five Gillian Harvey will be sharing her experiences as she attempts to have it all: to get paid for doing work she loves while raising her family.

So who is Gillian?

Gillian Harvey is a forty-something freelance writer who pens articles for women’s magazines and national newspapers. Having battled fertility for years, the tables turned in 2009 and she spent most of the next five years sporting a bump.

Now mum to five children aged 4-10, she lives with her brood and long-suffering husband Ray in a tumbledown country house – which requires constant DIY but will probably never actually be finished.

Having quit her job as a secondary school teacher Gillian moved to France in 2009, where she started her writing career in earnest.

After many miserable years of trying, and seven rejected novels, she secured a deal with publishers Orion for her first novel ‘Everything is Fine’ in 2019, with publication due in May 2020.

Gillian will be sharing stories and experiences from her life with us – and you – twice a month. We hope you enjoy reading about her life!
