Chevy electric vehicles: What are the charging options in 2025?

A quarter of the way into the new century, there is a great deal of emphasis on hybrid and electric vehicles. Many individuals and families now own them. However, if you get yourself a plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicle, you must obviously have a viable place to easily plug it in.

Companies like Chevy have dedicated a lot of money and time toward coming up with these types of options. Before heading to the nearest Chevy dealership to look at some of their newest models, though, you should understand what charging options are on the table. We’ll talk about some of them right now.

Level 1

The first option if you own a Chevy fully electric vehicle is called Level 1 by the company. This one uses a standard 120V household outlet of the same type that you will see in virtually any home in America.

You get about four miles of car driving for every hour that you have the vehicle plugged in if you go with this option. This pick seems ideal for overnight charging, as car owners can just plug the car in when they get home from work, and it should be good to go when they wake up the next day. However, many Chevy car owners also seem to like using it for a quick charge if they don’t need their vehicle to be fully juiced before they take it out on the road again.

Level 2

Next up is Level 2. This one needs you to use a 240V outlet. Many homes have these as well. This is the type of outlet you would use if you were charging an electric dryer.

This one gets you faster charging speeds. The estimate is that a car owner can get about 25 miles of range for every hour that the vehicle is plugged in.

You can often find these types of outlets in your home or have one installed in your garage. However, there are also many charging stations out in the world that have them, and there are more being added around the country seemingly every year.

DC Fast Charging

DC Fast Charging is the pinnacle of what Chevy vehicles are capable of at the moment. Though some well-heeled homeowners have elected to get them installed, for the most part, you will only find these at public charging stations.

There’s no denying that this is the fastest of the three charging options currently available to the public. In 30 minutes you can get about 100 miles of range for your Chevy EV

This type is capable of such fast charging because it completely bypasses the vehicle’s internal charger. There are two potential uses for it. The first is if you need to charge up the vehicle for a long road trip. The second is if you need a very fast top off when you’re out in the world.

Now that you know what’s available, maybe you’ll take the plunge and get a Chevy EV.
