Love work-life inspiration and advice? Join a FREE online careers festival this week

Find out why career coach Victora Kirk was inspired to launch an online careers festival in lockdown – and how you can attend for free.

As a career coach, I’ve spoken to many women in the last few weeks, all of whom are feeling a growing sense of unease or anxiety about their careers, and what the post-lockdown ‘normal’ will look like, work-wise.

For many, this anxiety is being compounded by the enforced juggle of home-schooling/childcare and working, and has prompted many people to think hard about the changes they may need to make to ensure that this new career-family juggle can be sustained long term.

For others, furlough, or even redundancy has meant an increased amount of time to think about their next career steps, or provided an opportunity to think about alternative ways of working and/or thinking about their career plans.

Back at the start of May, whilst out on a run, I had an idea – to bring together a group of local speakers to provide information, support and inspiration to people, and help them feel more positive about their careers.

And so the Kingston Work Life Festival was born – two days, 13 sessions and a whole load of wonderful people coming together to help others feel more positive about their work lives.

Why create a festival?

Festivals are traditionally a time when we can get away from all the day to day pressures around us and just kick back, relax and take some time for ourselves.

While I can’t promise a tent in a field, cool music or dancing till dawn, what I want to  provide is a space for people to take some time for themselves, maybe explore some new work ideas, and examine what they might want their career and work life to look like going forward.

I’m so grateful to the amazing speakers that have agreed to be involved.  As a quick snapshot, we have:

  • Lizzie Martin of Work Life Mother talking about Impostor Syndrome.
  • Eleanor Tweddell of Another Door, talking about how to make being redundant a good thing for you.
  • Bettina Siddiqui of Busyb Solutions talking about using LinkedIn to grow your business.
  • Isabelle Griffith of Light up & Thrive talking about building a resilient mindset when navigating change.

So if you are looking for a dose of work life inspiration, some support on making your next career move, or ways to boost your mindset right now, come and join us on the 26/27th May.

The event is free, and being run from a Facebook group, with all sessions being recorded so that you can watch whenever works for you.
