Live gambling and legality

The online gambling industry is growing in popularity every year. The big reason behind this growth is the existence of live casinos. They’ve made online gambling a lot more interactive, a lot more palatable to old-school gamblers, and in some ways a lot more fun. On top of that, live gambling has attracted a lot of female gamblers, with evidence showing that women are much more likely to gamble online then in land-based establishments.

However, as popular as online casinos may be, the laws surrounding them are still quite strange worldwide. So, in this article, we thought it would be beneficial to explain the legality of gambling online in different parts of the world, where the industry is most successful. So, without further ado, let us take a look at an online casino – try Christchurch Casino, and their legal status worldwide. We are going to cover the United States, Canada, and Europe, and explain how the industry works.

USA and Canada

In the United States, online gambling is legal in a handful of states. In fact, of the 50 states that comprise the USA, only seven have legalized online casinos. New Jersey is the leader in this department, being the first one to do so, and the most successful. Following Jersey’s example are Pennsylvania, Delaware, North Dakota, and more.

In Canada, on the other hand, online casinos are only legal in Ontario. Only recently has the province legalized online gambling, and it has had a pretty impressive impact on their economy. Not only has it led to new job openings, but it has also led to the improvement of the local economy. However, the rest of Canada has still not legalized online gambling.

Despite that, it is still possible to gamble throughout Canada and the USA. Players can access offshore casinos. These casinos’ headquarters are located outside of the countries, and therefore they are not breaking the law. Residents of Canada and the US are not prohibited from gambling online, so long as the casinos aren’t located in their respective countries.

Europe

In Europe, online casinos are a lot more favorably looked at. For example, England and Finland are two countries that lead in iGaming numbers, by which we mean that they are the countries that contribute the most to the online casino industry, in volume. England is also home to one of the most respected gambling commissions, the United Kingdom Gambling Commission, which has licensed a number of the most well-known gambling websites.

Apart from England and Finland, countries like Germany, Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Serbia, and many more have legalized online gambling. Of course, that isn’t to say that Europe doesn’t have its fair share of countries which have outright banned online casinos. For example, Norway has a pretty strict ban on all online gambling, except that offered by Norsk Tipping. There are a few other countries that have banned online casinos completely as well. Still, the industry is, by and large, more accepted in Europe than in North America.
