How to make the most of your Monaco trip
Monaco has a rich history, but it truly came to life in the 13th century when the Grimaldi family took control.
Remarkably, they still rule today! A visit to the Prince’s Palace, complete with the impressive changing of the guards, is a must-see. Here are a few more tips for when you find yourself stepping foot in this luxurious destination.

Visit the Monte Carlo Casino
You can’t go to Monaco without visiting the Monte Carlo Casino. It’s been very glamorous since 1863. The building is fancy inside and out.
We suggest you dress in your best clothes – a tuxedo for men or a fancy dress for women – and try your luck at roulette, blackjack or poker. Even if you don’t gamble we recommend grabbing a drink at the Bar Salle Blanche and enjoy the vibe.
Casinos and gambling remain popular and there are many ways to enjoy them. Real casinos will likely be more familiar to a wider group of people who, due to the availability of the internet and therefore online casinos, are aware that you can play games like roulette online for real money. Perhaps you’re already a roulette fan and stepping onto the casino floor seems a small step; but it’s a relatively easy game to understand if you’re new to it, too.

Explore a haven for food, beaches and adventure
Monaco has some of the best food around. There are fancy restaurants and cosy little spots. Try Le Louis XV – Alain Ducasse at the Hôtel de Paris for a special meal. For local treats visit the market at La Condamine. Try barbajuans (yummy pastries) and socca (chickpea pancakes). Perhaps suitable for a picnic by the sea?
Monaco might be small but it has lovely beaches. Larvotto Beach is the most popular with sandy shores and clear water perfect for swimming. There are restaurants and bars right on the beach.
For something fancier go to the Monte Carlo Beach Club. They have private cabanas, a large pool and fancy food. It’s a peaceful spot to chill out.
Be sure to explore the Old Town, known as Le Rocher, where narrow streets and charming old buildings create a picturesque setting. Or visit the Monaco Cathedral and the Oceanographic Museum, perched dramatically on a cliff with stunning sea views and an unforgettable collection of marine life.
And let’s not forget the Formula One Grand Prix. Every May the streets turn into a racetrack. The atmosphere is electric with cars zooming past landmarks like Casino Square and the harbor.
If you love fast cars the Monaco Grand Prix is a must-see. Watch from grandstands, yachts or hotel balconies. Even if you visit outside race season you can walk the track and imagine the roar of engines.
How to get there
Monaco might seem super fancy but it’s easy to get to. It’s a short drive from Nice Airport and trains connect Monaco to other cities on the French Riviera. Once you’re there it’s easy to get around on foot or by public transport. There are fancy hotels and affordable options so there’s something for everyone.
In short Monaco is a shiny gem with beautiful views, rich history and modern luxury. With just some careful planning your Monaco trip could be unforgettable.
