How to look good when working out

Getting involved with a new sport is great for both your physical and mental state, boosting your endorphins while improving your fitness.

But while it may make you look good in the long run, it’s not exactly a secret that nobody looks their best while working out.

If you want to look fresh no matter what you’re doing, then you’re in the right place. Here are a few ways you can improve your gym vibe and look slick regardless of your gender, even when you’re in the middle of a spin-cycle class.

Choose a watch that suits your sport

Take your day from desk to gym with a watch that is equally as stylish as it is functional. If you like to lift weights or cardio, that may be a smartwatch that can track your heart rate, calories burnt and steps taken.

If you’re a swimmer you’ll have to take extra care as you need a fully waterproof watch. A popular choice of divers, an Omega Seamaster 300 M can be worn anywhere from the sea to a formal dinner.

Pick up one of these luxurious watches second hand from a specialist watch site such as Watchmaster to save money and you’ll look like the most well-presented swimmer in the pool.

Wear a matching gym outfit

There’s nothing more motivating than purchasing a brand new gym set, whether it be a tracksuit or a sports bra and leggings. Investing in gym clothes is key when you regularly participate in sports, as they should be sweat-wicking and breathable.

A matching outfit exudes confidence and a sense of dedication to the sport, making you look like a pro in an instant. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to look good, either, as you can pick up excellent quality secondhand clothing from the likes of Depop for a fraction of the price.

Bring your own equipment

From tennis and football to weightlifting and swimming, there are some sports you need equipment for. And while some gyms will have items readily available, it may be worth picking up some of your own items in case these things are in use.

Investing in quality equipment when working out is essential for optimal performance, especially if you’re into specific sports that require more specialized gear such as lacrosse sticks for women. Having the right type of equipment can make all the difference in your workout routine and provide a much more enjoyable experience.

Add some personality to your gym bag with colourful or patterned equipment, such as a tennis racket, lifting straps or fabric resistance bands. Not only will this have you looking like an expert, but you won’t have to mess around with potentially dirty or well-used equipment at your gym – a win-win.

Buy sweat-proof products

As noted, sweat-wicking clothes are incredibly important for every sport – but it shouldn’t stop there. It’s essential that you bring an absorbent towel with you to clean up both your face and the equipment after a long workout.

Nobody wants to sit on an exercise bike just to feel the last person’s sweat. A spritz of a water sprayer, a dab of your towel and you’ll be looking refreshed even after beating your personal best.

If your sport of choice is running, get a sweatband instead. You won’t have to stop to get your towel out of your bag but rather give your forehead a quick wipe with your arm.

Find stylish hair accessories

How many of us just put our hair into a ponytail and go? Simply adding a chic hairband or a few ornate clips can really transform your look while remaining practical.

All the men out there needn’t worry either, as you could experiment with hats. They’ll keep your hair slicked back and out of your face while adding extra flair to your outfit.

Next time you’re trying to impress someone at the gym or simply want to look your best, take these tips into account. The gym has never looked so good.
