Five fun things to do in Kissimmee with the kids

With world-famous theme parks, sprawling wetlands and fantastic shopping, Kissimmee is the perfect destination to visit with the whole family.

You can stay together in one large villa, such as those available from Oliver’s Travels, and enjoy exploring all of the fantastic sites with a comfortable and relaxing base to return to.

Here are five of the most fun things you can do in Kissimmee as a family with the kids.

1) Visit Gatorland

Florida is known for its alligators, and one of the best places to see these creatures in their natural surroundings is at Gatorland, a 15-minute drive from Kissimmee.

Explore the 110 acres of thriving nature with waterways, tangled reeds and murky swamps. See if you can spot the alligators lurking beneath the water and spot the rare white alligators in the White Gator Swamp.

There’s also a fun express train and a splash park. With up-close encounters and live shows, there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

2) Watch sports games

Florida has several fantastic sports teams from baseball, ice hockey to basketball and football. Book in advance to ensure you bag tickets to an NBA home game.

Watch the Orlando Magic basketball team in action at the Amway Centre, which is in Orlando, 22 miles from Kissimmee. If baseball is something you’d like to experience, watch the Florida Fire Frogs in the Osceola County Stadium, only a ten-minute drive from Kissimmee.

3) Wander down Old Town Kissimmee

Venture down to Old Town Kissimmee for a vibrant mix of restaurants, family-friendly shows, shops and attractions that are open both day and night.

In the heart of the resort is Kissimmee Main Street, take a stroll to explore the many family-run boutiques and souvenir shops. Head to Old Town Kissimmee to enjoy the classic American atmosphere with the wooden shutter buildings and old-time cars. With plenty to see and admire, this part of Kissimmee is a must-visit.

4) Enjoy dinner and a live show

With the Disney Boardwalk and the Universal CityWalk just a short drive from Kissimmee, you have plenty of options when it comes to choosing a live show that’s perfect for the whole family.

Settle down to dinner and a show in one of the popular performance houses. Enjoy a Medieval banquet while watching a live jousting tournament or watch a tantalising pirate-themed production. From music performances to live theatre and comedy shows, there’s something for everyone.

5) Visit theme parks, rides and slides

You can’t mention Florida without imagining the excitement of the world-famous theme parks. From Kissimmee, you can visit the waterparks to enjoy the wave pools, slides and rides.

At Universal Orlando Resort you can experience thrilling rides and rollercoasters as well as the cinematic experiences in Universal Studios.

rby is the whirlwind of Walt Disney World Resort, where the magic of the iconic characters come alive through several parks. Enjoy rides, rollercoasters and meet the characters.
