Worried your outfits shout ‘comfort’ more than ‘style’ these days? Forgotten what it’s like to feel fashionable and put together? Don’t worry, help is at hand with a look that will turn heads for all the right reasons!
If you took our quick test to discover whether or not you’re committing mum fashion crimes recently – and like us failed – then you’ll be very pleased to hear that ever-stylish mum of two Karen Skagerlind is kindly sharing some of her top style tips to ensure you always look good and on-trend, while still being practical and comfortable.
Add colour and interest to your look
A quick fashion win to ensure that you don’t get lost in the sea of mums at the school gates or nursery pick up, is to add some colour and interest to your look. This outfit will help you do just that.
The sweatshirt dress from ASOS ticks a lot of boxes. It’s an easy statement piece but as it’s sweatshirt material it’s relaxed, comfortable and not restrictive like some tailoring. Obviously if you’ve got great legs you can wear as a dress with opaque tights and over the knee boots. However here I’ve teamed it with a slim trouser with back ankle zip detail, which then compliments the small studding detail on these Zara ankle strap flats.
I’ve chosen the neutral grey bag to ground the overall look and tie in with the greys coming through on the flower print at the shoulders. This great coat is also a relaxed shape and will add interest to any outfit because of it’s bright colour. (Both items are from Zara.)
Outfits can live or die on the smallest details so watch out for Kate Spade’s latest range of stylish timepieces. I love this stainless steel Seaport watch with pink hand and spade icon.
